Why Invest in Martial Arts?
Everyone loves to see a skilled martial artist in action. That is the reason why people such as Jackie Chan, Tony Jaa, Jet Li, and the capoeirista Lateef Crowder are famous. It is not just because of their movies, it is also because of their prowess in the martial arts. Now, they have only attained such mastery because they have put in considerable investment in the martial arts.
When we say investment, it would certainly involve money. Jet Li was fortunate enough to study under the Chinese government's program, but for most martial artists they had to spend money to learn their arts under their instructors. Time is also an investment as well; you would have to devote at least an hour of practice to learn the art.
Given these considerations, the question you are probably asking is: is it worth the money to invest in martial arts. Now, to answer that, you would have to understand the benefits of martial arts.
First, you learn self-defence. All martial arts were developed because of the need to defend oneself. Some people have the misconception that martial arts were created for fighting but they were actually made for self-defence. While practitioners do not advocate the indiscriminate use of martial arts skills, they sure will come in handy in some situations.
Second, martial arts are a great way to keep in shape. Each time you practice martial arts, you are building up your balance, strength and endurance. They are great full body workouts that, at the same time, are enjoyable.
